Simply enter the name of the airport as the starting point and your hotel as the destination and chose to search by public transportation:
Google will then give you the different available routes to your hotel along with estimated travel times. While you're in New York, you can use this tool to get anywhere in the city, and you can use the convenient Search Nearby feature to find restaurants, shops or attractions wherever you want in the city.
